We were left devastated by the death of Mitchell at season’s end and at the beginning of season 4… we fast forward to a future where vampires have over taken the world and humans are fighting for their existence.
We go back to our present day and we see Tom working at a restaurant. He has become a vampire hunter and he is on the hunt for the Vampire named Griffin, who ordered the death of Nina. We then see George, traumatized and devastated after the death of Nina, protecting their daughter who we come to know as Splodges. We see Annie is still chipper, which disguises her sadness over the loss of her lover, Mitchell, and friend, Nina. Her main concern now is that George’s daughter has a life that is not filled with fear.
We learn that the reason the vampires want the baby is for tribute to the old ones. These old ones are plotting to take over the world (Remember Herrick?), but they want to do in a more traditional way… kind of like how the Nazi’s did it. But, they have a newcomer in their midst that is wiser to the ways of the present day world.
Well, these vampires are on the move and Tom and George are going off to intercept and kill the vampire that ordered the hit on their beloved Nina. While they go off, George tells Tom how Nina was killed by the vampires and after beating her to death they had the audacity to send George flowers. This is the reason George is so hell bent on killing the bastard that destroyed his life. They soon come to the realization that they were forced into a trap and that the vampires are now after the baby. We then see an officer and a case worker force their way into the house and they take the baby. George is beside himself and Tom forces him to stay where they are in order so that they can change. The cop, we come to find out, is a vampire. Annie tries to go after the baby, but to no avail and eventually the baby is handed over to the Vampires. Happily, Splodges, has not turned and is perceived as only a human baby.
While Tom and George are transforming into werewolves, the young vampire that is social media savvy, videotapes their transformation. George and Tom find out that the baby was taken and his baby his just a baby. Because of the baby’s normalcy the vampires want George as tribute to the old ones. George goes with them. We learn that there is a thing called a “War Child” and that Splodges is the human child of the moon and that she is part of a supernatural trinity of a vampire, ghost and werewolf who together will bring the downfall of all supernatural creatures. This was foretold in a series of parchments… which forces us to go back to the future and we see that a girl reading the parchments. Then we see Tom and Annie are being led to the place where George and the baby are being held, by a pissed off vampire who wanted to be praised for the plan to trick George and Tom. Now the vampire, who is left with the responsibility to kill the baby, tries his hardest to delay the killing and even yawns to do so… because he believes in the war child.
George forces himself to change into a were, so he can save his baby and he kills almost every vampire in the place, including the one that killed Nina. Unfortunately, for those that survived, a vampire that may play a major role in the future did survive and that was the young, up and comer.
George is ecstatic that he saved the baby, but is told that she baby will save the world. We also see George start to die from the forced transformation. He asks that Annie take care of the baby and that Tom stay with them. With his dying breath, George names his baby Eve.
We go back to the future and we see that the leader of the resistance, after reviewing the united scroll, asking to be sacrificed by the one that found the missing piece. In order to save the world she will have to go back in time and kill the baby.
We now meet Hal, the vampire, as he is getting a haircut. He is in a similar situation to Annie, Mitchell and George. His werewolf friend, an elderly gentleman, barely survive his last transformation. This leaves this vampire and ghost at a loss.
The first heart-wrenching scene was when George said bye to his daughter and Annie. Actually, Annie only asked one thing of George and that was, “Don’t Die.”
Second heart-wrenching scene involved George, at his door, happy about going to see his Nina and knowing that his daughter will save the world.
I have a lot of questions after this episode:
- Who is the chick in the future? Is it eve? Or is it someone else?
- What’s the deal with the other Vampire, Ghost and Werewolf?
- Will the social media savvy vampire play a role in the desmise of Eve’s survival?
- What about the vampire that was let go by Tom and the Vampire that saved Eve, will they return to help Eve?
There are no many questions, but I have to admit that I was presently surprised by this premiere? With the loss of Mitchell and Nina, the show could have gone downhill. But, it did not. I also have to admit that I took George’s death to heart far more than that of Mitchell’s. George was the heart of the show because he was the most human. Yes, I cried like a fool for a couple of minutes and I was left wondering if we will we ever find anyone to fill that hole. To tell you the truth, I do not think so. George was the moral compass of the show and without him… those left behind will have a hard time getting by. But, I am looking forward to the next episode.
In the next episode we see Hal, Leo and Pearl – the other werewolf, vampire and ghost – turn up at the house. Leo is dying and this supernatural triumvirate believe the secret to saving the old werewolf’s life resides in Honolulu Heights.
