The Deets on the Once Upon a Time Panel

Sunday, March 3rd, 2013

From THR: ABC’s fairy tale drama left off with the long-awaited reveal of Gold’s son and Henry’s father, Baelfire, and executive producers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis promised the Saban Theatre audience that the rest of season two explores “this dysfunctional family” that is now in place. The identity of Henry’s father was established “very early in maybe season one,” Horowitz revealed, with actress Jennifer Morrison admitting that the moment in “Manhattan” was crucial for her alter ego, Emma Swan. “How do you play [all those emotions] in three seconds?” she asked.

Producers also took a brief moment to discuss the potential Mad Hatter spinoff, though never outwardly addressed it. When asked about a possible Jefferson return on Once Upon a Time, Horowitz and Kitsis denied that they were recasting the character. “No plans to recast anyone,” Kitsis said, but did note portrayer Sebastian Stan‘s busy schedule.

Here are 11 teases for season two, including pivotal clues to the 17th episode, “Welcome to Storybrooke”:

A darker Snow: In Sunday’s episode, Snow White makes a decision on which side she’ll fall: the light or the dark. It will be a big point of contention for Snow and Charming’s relationship. Though it will be a major hurdle for their romance, Josh Dallas said: “He’s going to be there no matter what.” Lana Parilla, who plays Regina, was excited to see this new side to Snow: “It’s going to get very intense.”

Storybrooke’s early days: Details of the 17th episode, “Welcome to Storybrooke,” were revealed. The episode, which marks the return of the Huntsman (Jamie Dornan), Gus Gus and Billy the Mechanic, will go back in time to the first week after the curse. ” ‘Welcome to Storybrooke’ is the very early days of Storybrooke,” Horowitz teased, adding that viewers will see what it was like in 1983, what it was like for Regina to be victorious and why she wanted to adopt Henry. The timing for the episode is also crucial. “When you see the episode, the answer will be very clear,” Horowitz said, as to why they decided for it to be in season two.

Another shade to Belle: In an upcoming Belle-centric episode, “things are going to get a lot more interesting for Gold,” Kitsis said, with Emilie De Ravin revealing that Belle’s cursed alter ego will be far different. “Lacey is the opposite of Belle,” De Ravin said. What is the likelihood for Belle to regain her memories? “Have hope and faith,” Kitsis said coyly.

Another realm: Before the end of the season, the show will visit another realm. Producers wouldn’t offer any more details other than: “We’ll be going to a new land!” as Kitsis exclaimed. However, they will be “teasing someone who will live in this other land, but we won’t see them until season three.”

Final season two episodes revealed: The two-part finale will be called “Second Star to the Right” and “Straight on ‘Til Morning,” major hints that the season may very well be ending in Neverland.

Father, son and grandson troubles: Now that Rumpelstiltskin has found his son, what will this mean for their relationship? “There’s a little gamechanger,” hinted Robert Carlyle of episode 22. Now that he is aware that Henry may be his undoing, it will present Rumpelstiltskin with an interesting question. “Has he learned anything [from his past and] what chance does his grandson have?” asked Kitsis of Rumpelstiltskin’s debacle. “Is undoing a bad thing?” Horowitz inquired.

A love triangle forming? Now that Henry’s father is back in the fray, will there be a possible love triangle forming between Emma, Hook and Bae? “I’d like to see it,” Kitsis offered. Fellow EP Horowitz seconded it: “It could happen.”

The Evil Queen will be back: ”Regina the Evil Queen is going to make a comeback, but in a different way,” teased Parilla.

Is Hook redeemable? “He’s out for himself,” Colin O’Donoghue said, “as long as he gets his greasy paws on Rumpelstiltskin.” Kitsis offered this: “At the end of the day, they’re all searching for their happy ending. Some just have a harder road.” Viewers will see Hook “pop back into the season in a fun way,” Horowitz said.

More familiar faces: August will return and viewers will find out where he ran off to and what he’s been doing. However, that big question of how August knew Neal was Bae will not be answered this season.

More backstories: Sunday’s episode will reveal an interesting connection between Hook and Bae; expect their backstories to be explored even further.

TV Time/Spoiler Time: The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, Beauty & the Beast, Revolution, Arrow, Fringe

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

You’ll want to record the March 3rd episode of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman stated the following, I think Episode 12 is going to be something special. All [eight episodes] are pretty great, but be on the lookout for that one.”

We’ll continue to see one of  the princesses (either Aurora or Mulan) on Once Upon a Time after the show returns on January 6th. Regarding the character that Ethan Embry will portray on the fairy tale hit, all we know is that he’s an outsider, a stranger and he is not a fairytale character will not be someone anyone recognizes from fairytale land.

Make room for another Winchester on Supernatural. Playing a central role in the hour will be Sam and Dean’s paternal grandfather Henry, whose arrival stirs up some daddy issues for the pair. “In other words, what did their father’s father have to do with the way their father turned out? A lot of that is explored head-on,” Supernatural show-runner JeremyCarver stated. “There’s a tremendous amount of emotional ground that’s covered. When we get a chance to do one of these episodes, we try to do it with great care because we’re essentially [etching] a part of the mythology into stone.” Might Jeffrey Dean Morgan make a cameo as Sam and Dean’s late pa? Responds Carver, evasively: “As with any character, we always have open discussions about everybody in our universe.”

It seems Cat and Vincent will have to wait longer to get some nookie because Beauty and the Beast is getting ready to introduce a charismatic and slightly shady A.D.A. in his late 20s who will work closely with Kristin Kreuk’s Cat on a special task force. Business will turn to pleasure and, if all goes according to plan, the not-yet-cast New Guy could become a series regular.

We’ll finally get to see Diggle’s back-story on the CW’s Arrow. We will also get to see the importance of his relationship with Oliver and what it means to Diggle’s family.

A bit of normal news is that Paleyfest will host panels centered on Once Upon a Time and Revolution and if you want to keep tabs on the event, click here.

Regarding pilots, ABC has ordered 13 episodes of Weird Desk, a drama series that centers on an a top-level organization (“Weird Desk”) that is tasked with investigating paranormal, supernatural and extra-terrestrial cases. The organization is led by a character named Morgan, a stubborn and brilliant man who has a female partner named Rosetta. Anyone reminded of X-Files?

The Vampire Diaries Do PaleyFest

Saturday, March 10th, 2012

Yes, fans went bonkers tonight as the cast of The Vampire Diaries took to the stage at this year’s Paleyfest. In attendance: Kat Graham. Matt Davis, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Julie Plec, Paul Wesley and Candace Accola. The attendees got to see the 1912 episode before the Q&A. We will not divulge the details of the episode as to not spoil anything for you, because you usually yell at us for it.

After seeing the cast at various events, you know that this cast is very fun to watch. They like to joke around with one another, with their fans and at each others expense. Throughout the Q&A portion of the show, while we did learn some interesting things about the remainder of the show’s season, we got to see this whole cast take the reins and made it a fun event for all.

Some of the interesting bits of info we learned:

*Will Katherine return to Mystic Falls? Katherine is no fool, she knows how evade Klaus and will not return to Mystic falls anytime soon as long as he is there.

*Will we see clan Original again? We will, indeed, see the Originals again and Mama Original will still try to make her plan to kill her offspring happen.

*Will Bonnie ever find love? Bonnie will find love with someone that will not die or be summoned off. We just do not know when this will happen.Kat Graham thanked the fans for the insistence that her character find love and even for shipping her character with everyone.

*Will everyone one survive the season, well Julie Plec does not know.

*Will we learn more about Elena’s parent’s death? Well, they have been talking about creating a series of flashbacks of Elena’s life before vampires came into her life and that is how we will meet her parents.

*Regarding Damon and Stefan’s relationship, will it ever mend? Throughout the season, we have seen both characters on their own specific journeys, but they have becomes each others heroes. One of the core story lines of the show is that of relationship between the brothers and it is, in it’s own way, an epic romance. Paul Wesley notes that there is a camaraderie between the brothers due to their mutual affection for Elena.

*Will Stefan continue to evolve as a character? Yes, he will reach a happy medium between the Stefan we first met and the Stefan we’ve come to know.Paul Wesley admitted that he has had a lot fun with the “Bad” Stefan and wondered why all of the sudden he has kind of packed off of that.

*Will Elena choose Damon or Stefan this season? At the end of the season Elena will have to ask herself who she cares for. Julie Plec stated that the storyline will come to a head at the end of the season. Nina had joked that it was time that the Vampire Diaries went off to Italy so she could meet some new boys and Paul and Ian chimed in that she could meet some other Salvatores (in Italian accents).

*Regarding the picture we saw of Damon and Rebekah? Damon does something crappy towards Rebekah and she lashes out against him, Originals style.

*Regarding Klaus and Caroline? Candace Accola was surprised at how fans love this pairing and wonders if everyone forgot that Klaus is a killer. There was no concrete answer about the pairing.

*Regarding Elijah and Elena? Nina stated that the character share a lot in their thought processes, such as not wanting to kill anyone and have an obvious chemistry.

*Regarding Alaric and his new love interest, initially Matt Davis was excited about the idea of his character having a love interest, but when he found out that it was going to be Paul’s wife… he started to freak out.

*At one point, Ian Somerhalder joked that no one watched the show and the audience booed. So, Candace told him to take his shirt off to make it up to the audience. So, he started with his belt… but then realized that it was his shirt and that ended. LOL!

*Early on, everyone was joking about Matt Davis’ fan fiction… which goes beyond the normal everyday fanfics and into some dark, twisted and smutty tales. When anyone tried to talk about it, they just shook their heads. But, Matt mentioned that his latest muse is Tyler.

* A fan asked Julie Plec about Elena possibly becoming a vampire, as she did very early on in the book series, and she replied, “We’ll see.”

The videos from Paleyfest will be up on Hulu next week. Check it out!

Once Upon A Time at PaleyFest 2012: Cast/Producers Give Insight on Current Season, Future

Sunday, March 4th, 2012

Buddy TV – Next up on the PaleyFest lineup is ABC’s new hit Once Upon A Time, a charming drama that brings to life your favorite fairy tale characters who, thanks to a curse, are stuck in present time in Storybrooke, Maine.

Six cast members and three executive producers joined the panel in Beverly Hills to discuss the show and tease the rest of the season and beyond:

Edward Kitsis, Creator/Executive Producer
Adam Horowitz, Creator/Executive Producer
Steve Pearlman, Executive Producer
Ginnifer Goodwin, Mary Margaret/Snow White
Jennifer Morrison, Emma Swan
Robert Carlyle, Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin
Lana Parrilla, Regina/Evil Queen
Josh Dallas, David/Prince Charming
Raphael Sbarge, Archie/Jiminy Cricket

Just how successful has Once Upon A Time been? Consider this:

- Of the 20 drama series that debuted this television season, Once had the highest-rated premiere
- It’s the No. 1 new show among women ages 18-49, beating 2 Broke Girls and New Girl
- It’s also the No. 1 family co-viewing show, meaning it’s the top show adults watch with kids.

Here are the main points brought up during the hour-long panel (including some spoilers, so read at your own risk!):

We’ll see more of Archie, as the town psychotherapist gets two new patients — Mr. Gold and David.
- Mr. Gold doesn’t have any friends or anyone to talk to, so he goes to see Archie to “address some things,” Robert Carlyle said.
- As for David, he goes to see Archie to try to make sense of his relationships — the one with Kathryn for whom he feels so guilty about and thus can’t seem to leave her, and the one with Mary Margaret for whom he has these strong, unexplainable feelings for.

The Kathryn storyline will get resolved this season.
- So will David/Mary Margaret get their happy ending? Not quite — a new obstacle will get in the way.
- “The nature of the curse is no one can have a happy ending,” Josh Dallas explained.

Barbara Hershey (Black Swan) will play the Evil Queen’s mother.
- But don’t expect a loving mother-daughter relationship. They don’t get along.

We’ll find out what Snow White did to piss the Evil Queen off.
- It won’t be that black and white, however. “It’s the complication [of what exactly happened] that’s beautiful about it and adds a richness to the relationship that we will need for subsequent seasons,” Ginnifer Goodwin said.

The mystery visitor’s agenda will be revealed.
- Before the end of the season, we’ll know exactly what he’s doing in Storybrooke. Though the producers didn’t immediately shoot down the theory that the mystery man is Henry, all grown up, they said one of the theories being thrown around out there is correct. Of course, they didn’t say what that was.

The allusion to a mermaid in a previous episode was indeed about Ariel.
- But that storyline will be for another time, another place, likely season 2. The producers want to focus on the current storylines that need to be played out. Another storyline to look out for after season 1: The story about Henry’s father.

Will the sheriff come back?
- The producers didn’t rule that out. Although the Storybrooke side of the sheriff’s storyline is over with, the Huntsman is still alive in the fairy tale world, so he may be making an appearance down the line.

The show has been dropping hints on how to break the curse.
- Now don’t go rushing to your DVRs to find out what it is. For the record, the actors do know what it is.

Other interesting tidbits:

- Episode 20 is currently being shot, and the season finale is currently being written.

- The process of getting in and out of the Rumpelstiltskin character takes hours. Getting makeup done takes under two hours, taking it off takes another hour and it takes 20 minutes to lace up his boots.

- The show makes use of a green stage, which is a giant sound stage surrounded on three sides by green curtains and green floors.

- Jennifer Morrison said her favorite scene playing Emma was before Sheriff Graham died because it was a huge turning point for the character.
“She really allowed herself to love someone romantically, even for a brief moment, for the first time in her life,” she said.

- Ginnifer Goodwin actually went as Snow White for Halloween a couple of years ago.

PaleyFest 2011: True blood… What Happened Live at the Event + Poster

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

PaleyFest 2011 is in full swing in Beverly Hills, California right now and the cast (Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin, Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Manganiello, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Deborah Ann Woll, Ryan Kwanten, Marshall Allman, Chris Bauer, Kristen Bauer Van Straten, Carrie Preston, Jim Parrack, Nelsan Ellis, Kevin Alejandro) and Alan Ball were in attendance.

Editor in Chief Debra Birnbaum moderated the panel:

Alan Ball takes the podium: “It’s really gratifying to see how many fans there are, and how passionate you are about the show.”

When tonight’s moderator asked the crowd if they were Team Bill, Eric or Alcide… Eric and Alcide won by a landslide.

A scene from Season 4 reveals that Pam, Jessica and Hoyt are going to team up against some rowdy vamp haters.

If you could work with anyone you haven’t worked with yet? “Lafayette and Jessica would have a lot to talk about.” – Deborah

Rutina: “I’d love to see some Tara and Pam action.” Alan: “You will.”

Is Alcide still hung up on Debbie? “She’s still alive and at large so you never know,” Manganiello says.

“Show of hands, who hasn’t gotten naked yet on True blood.”  Only 3.5 hands go up.

Will we ever see flashbacks of Pam and Eric? “Well, I’d love to see what Audrey Fischer would do with the clothing.” – Kristin

Can Lafayette trust Jesus? “You can never trust anyone too much…” Kevin Alejandro says.

How’s it going with Jessica & Hoyt? “The fairytale can’t go on forever, but maybe reality is better than a fairytale.” – Deborah

Hoyt’s mom remains “awful”

What’s up with the baby? “The last we left it, her baby was on board. And that problem grows, er, exponentially.”

Rene and Arlene’s baby is, in fact, “evil” but not a vampire, says Preston

Will Andy be on V? “A lot of V came into the station toward the end of last season. And you know, that’s where he works!” – Chris

What happens with Jason? “He should not be looking after an entire village of meth addicts,” says Kwanten

Any chance of Sam finding love this season? “Slim, looking at the record. But I got another shot. I’m at bat again.” – Sam. But with WHO?

Will Tara find some happiness? “Maybe.” Where does she go at the end of the season? “Away. You will find out early on.” – Rutina

Ball says: Characters can only be happy for one episode then it gets boring!

And Eric? “Things are definitely unstable for Eric. He doesn’t know who he is. Thousands of years of human resentment, gone.” – Alexander

How did Eric lose his memory? “He messed with the wrong people.” – Alex “Aliens came from space.” – Alan

Where did Tara go? Who knows? But “we’ll see a new Tara… A lot more stable… She may find some happiness” Wesley says

With vampires you can go back in time, or appear in dreams or even cloned. – Ball

Who in the cast does the best imitation of Bill saying “Sookeh?” Apparently, it’s Alan Ball.

At Paley True Blood panel Alex Skargard asks Alan Ball for some Pam/Eric flashbacks. There will be Bill/Eric flashbacks in new season.

When Eric returns, he’s a lost man. Literally. He loses his memory because “he messed with the wrong people” Alex says.

Why isn’t Sophie-Anne on the panel? What of the Bill vs. Queen battle? “It’s not just Bill involved in the fight.”

How does the bite-off between Bill and Sophie Anne end? No one’s saying. “It’s not just the two of them involved,” Alan Ball says

Look for a major struggle between Bill and Sophie-Anne this season… And someone else as well.

“Eric doesn’t know who he is anymore…The powerful character he was is just gone…” A.S. says. The change “has been a blast.”

Would Stephen Moyer ever direct an episode? “It’s something that I’m very interested in. It’s a dream of mine.”

Joe Manganiello says he would love to direct an episode one day.

Where is Sookie? “She comes back. But things are different.” – Anna

Will Sookie learn how to control her microwave fingers? “No. But she’s new at this faerie stuff.” – Anna

Will Sookie act on attraction for Alcide? “Well, he doesn’t turn into a ball of charred fire during the daytime. But he comes with baggage.”

Will Sookie act on any attraction for Eric? “You’re just going to have to watch.” – Anna “I’m drunk the whole time.” – Alan HA!

Skarsgard talks about a flashback early in the season with Moyer “Just watch it!”

So Sookie joined Claudine… Can she control her microwave fingers now? “No, but she’s new to this fairy stuff,” Paquin says

Gary Cole and Fiona Shaw will guest star this season. Shaw will play “a witch, among other things” Alan Ball says. Plus more animals in season 4.

The clincher for the night! While Paquin was being coy on whether Sookie will act on her attraction to Eric, Skarsgard mouths “it happens”… YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Theme for Season 4? Duality of existence? Man vs nature? The terrors of intimacy? But a simple theme that makes the crowd bonkers!

“Eh, it’s just True Blood. It’s for the fans. An escapist, emotional, terrifying journey is all that matters.” – Alan

And what of Russell? “There are definitely plans to bring him back. And he is gonna be PISSED.” – Alan

Regarding Sookie and bill, “It’s hard not to think of them as soul mates when they’re soul mates in real life.” -Alan

Are Bill and Sookie toast? That betrayal is so deep I don’t think there is anyway back from that, hopefully we’ll have 17 more seasons – Alan

The cast talked about the bizarre things fans have requested of them:

Alex got offered $$ to fly to Ohio and marry the woman’s daughter. ‘I did it, of course,’ he jokes.

True Blood called Vampire Porn by Marshall Allman’s grandmother! LOL!

Niall will make an appearance, but NOT this season. Ack! I really wanted to see him. I’m surprised no one asked about Quinn.

Fan questions:

“Will True Blood accurately portray Wicca?” “The way into the witchcraft story is through a circle of wiccans…”

“…but there is a more evil force. We’ve tried to preserve the traditions of Wicca as much as we can.” – Alan

Joe Manganiello thinks Alcide is like Eeyore, so Anna and Steve bought him a stuffed Eeyore “that sits on my bed.”

Will Lafayette & Eric ever get together? ‘Sookie & Bill aren’t the only soulmates…’ -Alan

Favorite Lines? “Everything Pam ever says ever.” – Anna

Favorite lines? “I can smell the sunlight on your skin.” – Nelsan

And the night is done!

I enjoyed it, did you?

~M.

P.S. Here is the second scene that aired:

Video from Dread Central

Btw, you just gotta love Hoyt!

Finally, after tonight’s panel… are you Team Eric or Team Bill?

Night everyone!
