Grimm: Recap of S2:Ep.5 – The Good Shepherd

Saturday, September 29th, 2012

While Nick and Hank investigate the murder of an accountant (who is a Lamb creature named Seelengut) and who is also embezzling from his church, but they realize that there is a pattern with a slew of similar cases that revolve around embezzlement of churches and a shady Reverend (that is a Blutbad). The funny bit is that the Blutbad is a Reverend that is the leader of a church filled with Seelengut. So they turn to Monroe for some guidance and undercover work. Monroe starts to fall for the Reverend’s spiel.

Kristina Anapau (Maurella from True Blood) portrays a church secretary who is embroiled in a love affair with the Reverend and in cahoots with him, but then she finds out that the love of her life is just a Blutbad in Seelnegut clothing and turns his flock against him.Who knew sheep could be so deadly.

While this is happening, the Nuckelavee gets closer and closer to Nick and those that he cares for, as he prepares to make his move against Nick, but Nick takes care of him and realizes that he is after the “key.”

Nick is also trying to rectify the current status of his relationship with his true love, Juliet. After speaking to her friends, she decides to give Nick a chance.

The scary thing about this episode is that I can now identify Blutbads without being told of what they are.

It was a great episode that shows us that Nick is a walking target, Hank and Monroe are accepting of the task of backing Nick up as he handles both crime in the human world and the not so human world and that Juliet is letting Nick in. Of course, when things fall in place for Nick, inevitable the other shoe drops.

With Mommy Dearest in tow, Nick is on the hunt for not only the Mauvais, but on a quest to save his Juliette. Luckily he has Monroe, Rosalee, and unbeknownst to him – the Hexenbeast’s Mom and Chief Renard on the same quest. All the while, he is trying to wrap his head around the enormity of crap heading towards him because of what he is and what he has; the key and the coins. This show has amped up the action while maintaining the core story, which is a great formula. We also loved the addition of Nick’s Mom, because she will be the mentor that he needs to survive the storm that is heading his way.

Overall, we loved the episode and cannot wait for next week’s episode: “The Kiss”

Synopsis: Two Grimms are better than one, as Nick joins forces with his mother to take down his greatest threat yet.
