Movie News: Star Wars VII has a Writer… and he Wrote Little Miss Sunshine

Friday, November 9th, 2012

Lucasfilm confirmed that award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay for the new Star Wars film. Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas have begun story conferences with Arndt. If you do not know Arndt, he won an Academy Award® for Best Original Screenplay for writing Little Miss Sunshine (2006) and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for writing Toy Story 3 (2010).

Just so you know, Arndt had written a treatment for the next three movies in the Star Wars saga prior to the Disney buyout.

Wouldn’t it be funny if the new Star Wars movie had a quirky, romantic twist? The riots that it will cause. George Lucas should move away… far, far away…

With that said, Empire Strikes Back was written by a group of writers that had expertise in different genres and that movie is considered to be the best movie in the series.

Keep your fingers crossed Star Wars fans.

I know I am.

Movie News: Say it ain’t so Harrison Ford

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

Ever since the announcement was made, under the radar, that Disney bought Lucasfilm… everyone has come out of the woodwork either to pan or praise the merger.

The main issue with fans, at least, is that they feel that the franchise should be left alone as is… especially when people are speculating and arguing over who would pen and direct the next chapter.

Yet, when Han Solo (Harrison Ford) himself states that he is game to participating in the next installment you just have to wonder… what the hell? Does no one remember the fourth Indiana Jones movie?

What do you think?

Movie News: Disney Acquires Lucas Film = Star Wars VII is Coming in 2015

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012

Disney continues it’s quest to become a juggernaut in the entertainment industry with its latest purchase of Lucas Film.

Yesterday’s breaking news was Walt Disney Co. forking over $4.05 billion in cash and stock for Lucasfilm Ltd., and stated that they will be adding a new chapter in the Star Wars franchise starting in 2015.

If you are not aware of past mergers made by Disney, they have acquired ABC and Marvel. Both of which have thrived under the Disney umbrella.

Regarding the Star Wars movies, Lucusfilm had already developed an extensive story line on the next trilogy, and Episode 7 was now in early-stage development. Yet, in an interview with George Lucas, from earlier this year, it was noted that there was no plans to add a new trilogy to the franchise. With the new deal,  Lucas will serve as creative consultant in the new movies.
