Spoiler Time: Press Call with Sam Huntington and Kristen Hager who play Josh and Nora, respectively on Syfy’s Being Human
Tuesday, January 8th, 2013We are only a few days away from the 3rd season premiere of the popular Being Human series and we got to sit on another call for the show… this time with the actors that protray the belved couple of Josh and Nora: Sam Huntington and Kristen Hager.
Please proceed with caution, there are spoilers ahead.
Does Kristen feel different now that she has been upgraded to a regular?
KH – I feel the same and a bit more included (ha ha).
SH – She is acting more important.
KH – I do not respond to anyone on the set… LoL!
Are you happy playing a normal Josh versus the tormented Josh from seasons past?
SH – Josh is a layered, dynamic and rich character. For me, I feel slightly like I am outside looking in. So, not only is Josh feeling left out, but so am I. Kind of like the ghost of Christmas past.
Did you and Megan create a support group?
SH – We formed a support group. I now sympathize with Meaghan in her first 2 seasons on the show and feel her pain, because she could not interact with everyone around her in the same way that the other characters did.
Is this season going back to the roommates interacting more?
KH – This season we got back to the roommate scenario and keeping the storylines of these characters connected.
SH – The writer’s goal was to get us back together.
What was the most memorable thing about filming the upcoming season?
SH – The digging of graves.
KH – The director was pointing out I was not digging and just standing. So, you have to look in the episode to see the awkwardness.
KH – Filming with Donna, I loved the Craft.
KH – Nora is more subdued this year, but there are challenges every day.
SH – Dealing with Liam was a new thing for Kristen.
KH – Yea, as a new thread for the character.
SH – Good Call.
SH I felt left out because I felt like I was not a part of the gang.
KH – I do not mind the long hours…
Is being a Werewolf being easier than a Vampire, as stated by Sam Witwer in last week’s call?
SH Witwer is full of shit, but Aiden has had it rough because of his past and he has dug his own grave.
KH – think it is case by case
SH – Josh tortured himself, but Nora loved it.
KH – Nora went through the stages, but she questions everything by the end of the second season.
SH: Good Call.
What kind of journey do Nora and Josh go through?
KH – Nora and Josh are in a better place. We will see much more of a human relationship which was nice.
SH –We do go to dramatic places in the 3rd season and they are grounded and real, but there is more levity because we are together and it will be fun to watch. Best season yet.
KH – I agree. There is freshness and newness to the season.
KH – Nora had been a victim for such a long time, but being WW allowed her to be more comfortable in her skin that she embraced and in season 2 she was terrified and by the end of it she is trying to hold on to her humanity. In season 3 she is looking for a balance, but it will be a struggle for her forever.
SH – More werewolves come into town and that triggers her love the being a wolf.
SH – Sally is interesting, because she is still a supernatural being. Josh is just a square peg in a round hole. It is unexpected to see how he reacts to regaining his humanness. It was fun to play.
What was it like to see Nora and Josh evolve as a couple?
KH – The writers have given us fantastic and challenging stuff for us to do. We have not seen the end of the journey, but the relationship is much more solid and happy.
SH – Be careful what you wish for is the tag line for the season and they get what they wanted and it comes with a price. It is totally bittersweet for Josh. For Aiden the world is new and he has to get accustomed to it again.
Is there a new dynamic in the house now that Nora has moved in?
KH -Josh and Nora have lived there for a year and half and then they get Aiden and Sally back, but it is an adjustment to them being back and the couple will be conflicted at times as a result.
SH – I thought it was funny that the bedroom was not redecorated. The room was like a room from Se7en. LoL!
What keeps Josh and Nora together?
SH – Both a co-dependence and love.
KH – Hardships keep them together and we are stronger than ever because of what we have gone through:
Do we see their past come back to haunt them?
KH – Most Definitely! We see what she did with the wolves when she left with them and she will deal with the repercussions of her actions.
Favorite Guest Stars?
SH – Amy Aquino a.k.a. Donna. She is so talented and easy going and brought a newness and freshness to the table. She came so prepared and cared so much.
KH – Xander Berkely as Liam who is the father of the twins and comes back to see what happened to his kids. He is a fantastic bad guy and knew what he was doing. We had some great scenes together.
Did you like watching Werewolves and Vamnpres when you were young?
KH – I loved it. Even now I love the idea of ghosts being around us
What is the process to becoming a Werewolf?
SH – It’s crazy man. There 4 phases to becoming a WW. Chest Piece, Back Piece which is difficult to apply. Hands (the most annoying due to the awkwardness and peeing issues) and the face— it takes 6 to 7 hours and is very intense to put on. But because it is so excruciating it helps you acting wise.
Will we see the female werewolf twin?
SH -She is still around
What is your favorite prop?
SH – A statue that is in the living room which is a.k.a. the dog.cat. man.dude. It will be the one piece from the set that everything will be fighting over. I think Meaghan will get her hands on it.
