TV Time: Recap of Once Upon a Time’s S2:Ep.10 – The Cricket Game

Sunday, January 6th, 2013

Network’s blurb: When Regina is accused of murder, everyone assumes the worst… except for Emma. Meanwhile, in the fairytale world, Snow and Charming must decide what to do with the Evil Queen once they’ve brought her to justice.

It has been a month since we last stopped by Storybrooke to see what was happening with these tormented fairy tale characters and you would think there would be some kind of lull in-between the Queen of Hearts and this week’s episode. However, barring from a little nookie time and a party to celebrate the return of Snow and Emma, things are just as bad as they ever have been.

Who can we blame for this? Regina’s Mom, of course. She kicked up a mess of trouble for her daughter by disguising herself as her daughter and then killing Jiminy Cricket and forcing the town to turn their back on her. The only person in her corner is Emma.

We did learn that all this mess we have been watching could have been nipped in the bud if Snow allowed Regina to be executed. Forgiveness can be a bitch. We also learned that the person to plant the seed of creating Storybrooke was Rumplestiltskin. Why? We’re not sure, but it gave Regina another chance to exact her revenge on Snow. Yes, yes… I know it was a way to find his long lost son.

It is sad to see Regina suffer for a crime she did not commit, which forces Henry to lose any hope that his adoptive mother had any good in her, but I am intrigued to see what Regina’s next steps are.

Also, if you saw that last few seconds than you know Jiminy is a-okay. Hooray!

Finally, I have to reiterate that the one of the few saving graces for this show is Rumplestiltskin/Gold. Robert Carlyle is pure magic and he is one of two reasons why I keep watching this show, the other being Jared Gilmore, who portrays Henry.

Next week: S2:Ep.11 – The Outsider

Gold conducts an experiment to see if he can find a way across the town border without losing his memory. Meanwhile, Mary Margaret and David go house-hunting and Belle finds Hook in Storybrooke. In the fairytale world, Belle and Mulan meet for the first time as they try to stop a beast ravaging the land.
