Fringe: Recap of S5:Ep.1 – Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11

Friday, September 28th, 2012

How I missed this show… How very happy I am that it is back… even if it is for a brief 13 episode series ending chapter.

Let me digress.

Season 5 picks up in 2036 and the Observers (in all their Mad Men-like regalia) rule the planet with an iron fist. But the defining moments of the episode were not the edge of your seat moments. No, no… they were the private moments shared between a family.

Seeing Peter and Olivia reunited…

and then finding out why Olivia went to NY and Peter stayed behind…

Walter sharing a moment with his granddaughter…

and finally the moment that we had all been waiting for…

All my husband could do was give me a roll of paper towel as I wept.

Whereas the glyphs that acted as markets throughout the episode spelled…

… the show ended with Yaz’ Only You playing on as Walter looked at a dandelion. For those of you that don’t know, the dandelion has meaning and that is that it is a gift to a loved one that will provide happiness and a promise of total faithfulness. Yes, Walter may have lost the information locked away in his brain due to the interrogation by Windmark, but that does not mean that Walter can’t do it. He just needs to have faith in himself.

So, Fringe fans… we’re in for a fun ride because this episode was the nut-grabber. The prologue to 12 episodes which will be filled with action and an ending to a series that has given its fans some of the best TV ever produced.

What to expect in the episodes ahead:

In the promo for In absentia that we posted earlier and in tonight’s episode, we see that Etta has some serious anger issues and is hell bent on revenge for what the Observers have done to her (separating her from her family) and to the world. She is capable of anything and it is up to Olivia and Peter to keep her on track as they fight for freedom.

Spoiler Time: Fringe, Once Upon a Time

Friday, August 17th, 2012

In Once Upon a Time, we may be seeing Sebastian Stan again if the timing works out:

“I love that character, and it’s a great show – a very different thing than I’ve ever done,” he raved. “So if the timing works out, maybe!”
Someone told TVLine that Jefferson, a.k.a. The Mad Hatter,  once again this season.
There was also a question about the Fringe promo video that was shown at San Diego Comic-Con, if that footage would actually be used in the final season:
“In some way, shape or form,” yes, says showrunner Joel Wyman. To remind, the cast did Wyman a solid by “pre-taping” new scenes for an ersatz trailer that he “wrote in about five minutes” and used to coax Fox into ordering a 13-episode farewell season. (The “future” moments include Olivia and Peter remarking on their remarkable daughter Etta, and the proud parents touting a plan to fend off the circa-2036 Observers with “fringe” events of their own making.) Says Wyman, “You’re going to see this really messed up nuclear family that’s trying to hold it all together.”
