Ryan Kwanten in TV Guide

(TV Guide – March 20- April 12, TV’s 35 Sexiest Stars) – Of life’s many guilty pleasures, lusting after True Blood’s Jason Stackhouse is pretty darn close to the top of the list. Sure, the HBO vampire drama’s so-called “redneck Casanova” isn’t exactly gonna set the world on fire with his theories on quantum mechanics. But who cares, when he looks like that and talks like that and makes us feel like that. Which is why we’re almost reluctant to inform you that Ryan Kwanten, the Aussie actor who portrays Bon Temps’ dim, frisky man-child, isn’t very much like Jason at all. Like, the guy quotes obscure 18th-century poetry about the elusiveness and universality of beauty. “I’ve always liked that, because you never know what beauty or sexiness really is,” says Kwanten, 32. Whereas his brazenly confident alter ego has, as Kwanten says, “a total lack of inhibition,” the real guy couldn’t brag his way out of a paper bag. (He considers the high arch of his feet to be his best attribute.) While he will cop to a couple of turn-ons, they don’t include anything quite so deliciously dangerous as fang marks: “I love a good, genuine smile and a good laugh,” he says. “If a woman knows who she is, that inner beauty is connected to an outer radiance.” His trick to getting through all those steamy love scenes? “Trying to tunnel into what the girl is thinking and make her comfortable,” he says. Well put. But then again, we’re not here to listen to you talk.
