Which femme reigns supreme?

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

By: Kim R.

These days, there are plenty of sexy supernaturals out there for us ladies to drool over. Alcide Herveaux. Eric Northman. Damon Salvatore. Really, the list of sexy spookies and vamps could go on forever.

What about the smoldering ladies that are overlooked? Those men have some good looking gals to back them up. So now you weigh in. Who is the best looking lead lady? Is it Sookie Stackhouse, the sassy blonde barmaids from True Blood? Or is it the brooding and clumsy Bella Swan from Twilight? You be the judge.

TVG – Help! I can’t tell if the werewolves are the good guys or the bad guys on The Vampire Diaries. — Cory
MICKEY:
I can’t either, but perhaps a new addition to the cast will clarify everyone else’s relative goodness. He’s a man of few words who allows his piercing eyes to do the talking for him. I’m hearing him compared to the Haitian on Heroes, which means those peepers are probably good for more than just lookin’.

Ian Somerhalder On A Damon-Elena Romance: It’s Just A ‘Pipe Dream For Damon’

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

(Kara Warner- MTV)  Now that we’ve heard Ian Somerhalder’s thoughts on a “Vampire Diaries” musical episode, and how playing Damon’s softer side is a challenge, what else did we have to discuss with the CW superstar?

Why, the possibility of a hook-up between his character, Damon, and Nina Dobrev’s Elena, of course. Unfortunately for “Dalena” fans, Ian said the forecast for their romantic future is pretty bleak.

“Look, here’s the thing, I don’t know how he’s going to get back into her good graces. He killed her brother, there is no better way to tell someone you love them then to snap their brother’s neck. Most people do flowers,” Ian told MTV News recently. “I’ve heard [fans want] that and even in talking to Kevin [Williamson] and Julie [Plec]… How? That’s the question: How in the hell is he going to get back in her good graces? How is she ever going to trust him again? How is she ever even going to want to look at him again?”

Somerhalder went on to say that he doesn’t think a relationship is in the cards for Damon and Elena, that it’s just “a pipe dream for Damon.” He had similar thoughts regarding fans’ wanting a Damon-Bonnie pairing.

“Again, she hates him! Hates him. And not like the kind of hate that could eventually turn into love, she despises the guy,” Ian said. “Five generations for her family have despised the guy, you know what I mean?

“How many times could he be rejected?” he added. “Poor guy. He would probably be better off leaving Mystic Falls and going to the Caribbean for 100 years.”

Somehow we sincerely doubt that. Even in the Caribbean Damon would find a way to incite death and destruction.

What are some ways Damon could get back in Elena’s good graces? Is there any hope for them?

*Double Cross by Carolyn Crane

SOME SECRETS COME BACK TO HAUNT. OTHERS COME TO KILL.

Justine Jones lived her life as a fearful hypochondriac until she was lured into the web of a mysterious mastermind named Packard, who gifts her with extraordinary mental powers—dooming her to fight Midcity’s shadowy war on paranormal crime in order to find the peace she so desperately craves.

But now serial killers with unheard-of skills are terrorizing the most powerful beings in Midcity, including mastermind Packard and his oldest friend and worst enemy, Midcity’s new mayor, who has the ability to bend matter itself to his will.

As the body count grows, Justine faces a crisis of conscience as she tests the limits of her new powers and faces an impossible choice between two flawed but brilliant men—one on a journey of redemption, the other descending into a pit of moral depravity.

Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews

Two nations of the Weird are waging a cold war fought by feint and espionage, and their conflict is about to spill over into the Edge-and Cerise’s life.

Siren Song by Cat Adams

Nothing if not resilient, Celia Graves is slowly adjusting to being a half-human, half-vampire Abomination. But her troubles are far from over. Her best friend’s murder is still unsolved, the cops are convinced she should be in jail, and her old lover, the magician Bruno DeLuca, has resurfaced in her life, saying he has something important to tell her.

The vampire attack that transformed Celia kicked her latent Siren abilities into high gear, and now she’s been summoned to the Sirens’ island to justify her existence—and possibly fight for her life—in front of the Siren Queen. Celia isn’t sure she’ll survive to make the trip. The demon she defeated in Blood Song hasn’t exactly gone quietly—he’s left Celia suffering from a powerful curse.

Left for Undead: A Crimson Moon Novel by L A Banks

Secret government operative Sasha Trudeau earned a long vacation with her lover and fellow Shadow Wolf, Hunter, after the brutal wolf-like attacks that left New Orleans in an uproar. But when her team calls with news of vampire slayings, Sasha knows it’s only a matter of time before another war breaks out among the supernatural denizens of the world …

The vampires are nobody’s ally, but the cold-hearted deaths of their own kind make them even more bloodthirsty than usual. But who is the culprit? With the Seelie and Unseelie courts claiming innocence and aligning together, Sasha’s team is at a loss. Until they discover that they’re facing ancient creatures from the depths of hell itself, bent on unleashing pure fury …

Masques by Patricia Briggs

After an upbringing of proper behavior and oppressive expectations, Aralorn fled her noble birthright for a life of adventure as a mercenary spy. Her latest mission involves spying on the increasingly powerful sorcerer Geoffrey ae’Magi. But in a war against an enemy armed with the powers of illusion, how do you know who the true enemy is-or where he will strike next?

Eat Prey Love by Kerrelyn Sparks

Carlos Panterra is looking for a mate, a woman who will love and care for the young orphans he’s recently taken under his wing (or paw, as the case may be). When the shape shifter spies the beautiful Caitlyn, it’s like sunshine amidst the darkness. At last, he’s found the perfect woman, except. Caitlyn Whelan is mortal. Worse, her father is the head of a CIA agency bent on hunting the undead. Still, Caitlyn knows that Carlos is the man for her, shape shifter or not. So she jumps at the chance when her sister offers her a job to work with him, determined to show Carlos their attraction is more than just animal magnetism. But danger lurks in the night, and their unleashed, untamed passion might just get them both killed.

Revamped by J.F. Lewis

Eric survived a vicious showdown with his double-crossing former best friend and some angry lycanthropes—barely: he’s lost his strip club, his treasured red Mustang, his love life, and even his body. But with a little magic, the die- hard Vlad returns to corporeal form, and “Fang the ’Stang” is restored—with an unlife of its own. Now Eric’s ready to match wits with one of Void City’s most powerful demons to rescue the soul of Marilyn, the love of his (mortal) life. But salvation comes at a high price, forcing Eric to enter his own worst nightmare, vampire High Society, to uncover the truth about the origin of his powers. Having to deal with the Void City elite is bad enough, but the more Eric sniffs around, the more it looks like someone is after his soul, too. Now blood will flow and fangs will be bared, because revenge is never pretty-and Eric has plenty to pass around.

Dark Slayer by Christine Feehan

Ivory Malinov has lived centuries without love. Then she picks up the scent of a man. Her salvation. Her lifemate. The curse of all Carpathian women. He is Razvan, a dragonseeker. In spirit, in flesh and in blood, in love and in war, Ivory and Razvan are made for each other. For as long as they dare to live.

This, of course, is just a taste of all the new releases.

Not only does he defend the environment, but he rescues puppies…

Monday, September 27th, 2010

By: Kim R.

Here’s something interesting about Ian Somerhalder.  He rescues puppies! My new favorite guy… :)

A man that loves puppies and cares about the environment? Ian Somerhalder, if you hadn’t won our hearts already, your good deeds have!

Known for his breakout role as the smoldering survivor of Oceanic Flight 815, Somerhalder left the tropic scene and won a place on our lists as Damon, the bad-boy vamp with a chip on his shoulder.  Not only know for his great acting chops, however, the actor is a strong environmentalist and animal activist. Somerhalder is a native of the United States Gulf Coast and the recent oil spills really took a hit to his heart.
“To me and to the people that go down there, (it’s) one of the most beautiful places in the world. And I actually had to watch it destroyed. And it will be destroyed — forever. My great-grandchildren will not be able to enjoy the Gulf Coast of Louisiana the way I have,” Somerhalder said in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald.
Not only is he involved in the Gulf Coast clean up, Somerhalder also helps the environment through the organization Go Green Mobile POwer. Go Green makes mobile solar, wind and bio-disel generators to provide power for everything from disaster relief to filming.
“I do’t know how to do anything else other than be an actor,” he said. “If I wasn’t in this, I would be in alternative energy and conservation.”
So does Somerhalder get any better? Just wait. He also supports the group New Leash on Life, which trains stray dogs to be service animals.
A man who can act, who loves the environment and who rescues puppies? He’s a winner in our book.
