Sunday, November 8th, 2009

The event they are talking about was on Saturday.  Sorry I didn’t get it posted sooner :(   The interview is good though.  :) Kelly

Tomorrow 11-7-09 at LUSH Cosmetics in Santa Monica, Kristin Bauer, aka Pam from “True Blood” will be signing autographs and taking pics between 1 and 3pm with fans who simply show up to support the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s (IFAW) Tails for Whales photo campaign.

We had a chance to talk to the “True Blood” star about her support for this specific cause as well as get the lowdown on what will be on the upcoming “True Blood” DVD and the inspiration behind her character on the show.

LAist: Tell us about “Tails for Whales”.

Kristin Bauer: We’ve been hearing about “save the whales” ever since we were kids and now we hear a lot about polar bears so I had believed that this had been taken care of this but we can’t really cross anything off the to-do list in terms of saving. What troubled me was that there are so many unnecessary deaths for whales, whether it’s the whales getting hit by ships in their breeding grounds or when they drown in old driftnets and fishing equipment in the ocean. This campaign is a way to let the people in Washington that we elect that we do want whales saved and that there is a bill that’s been introduced that can do this. Right now many people are struggling financially and what is great about this campaign is that it’s easy, it’s fun, and we’re not asking for money. We’re just asking for photos of people making the whale tail with their hands. The only other option is to sign another petition but this campaign puts faces and photos towards the cause which I think is a lot more compelling. I’m showing up at LUSH because they have been so generous by creating a lotion from which the proceeds go to IFAW. Hopefully people will show up at LUSH and I will trade them an autographed photo for a photo of them making a whale tail and since they are there they might also be interested in this charity product.

LAist: What struck you about this campaign compared to other charities?

Kristin Bauer: I think about 80% of the population cares and wants to do something but how do you help polar bears? This campaign which just involved taking a picture is something anyone can do and anyone can show up to this store as well. A lot of these other causes are for animals that are on the other side of the world but these are animals that live right around here, think about what a huge port Long Beach is and all that shipping traffic. We want to buy stuff at Cosco and that’s how the stuff gets here and we need to take responsibility for that.

LAist: Congrats on yet another great season of “True Blood”.

Kristin Bauer: I can’t wait to get back to that, I’ve been playing humans this whole off-season and it’s not nearly as much fun.

LAist: I wanted to ask you about the classic stylings of your character “Pam”. Her classic stylings remind me of Catherine Deneuve, she is very elegant, in control, what’s your inspiration when working on her?

Kristin Bauer: You don’t really know, you’re learning on your feet and you learn as you go. I had the concept that she was probably wealthy and that she was made a long time ago and she’s seen a lot of humanity come and go. She’s seen it all. I just did the commentary on the Blu-ray DVD as Pam, 35 pages of dialogue of her. She comments on all the aspects of the show, Eric, Sookie, etc. More dialogue than I’ve had in two seasons of the show. But even right now I don’t know if she and Eric were lovers or her real back history.

LAist: It’s an interesting comparison, Pam is very restrained and cool whereas Eric can succumb to impetuous behavior even though he is older than her and the Sheriff of the area. Perhaps I’m just projecting my own desires but it seems like there could be this layer of kinkiness in Pam just underneath the surface that could just bust out.

Kristin Bauer: I know, I think so too. First it seems like she is incredibly bored and hard to impress and that she’s thoroughly embraced being a vampire, she is a superior life form. But when I think about that, she is very open, and that’s where the kinkiness comes in. I think she’s pan-sexual and she can look at Eric, and Sookie and she’s not discriminating, with an openness that she looks at this world and the human race from the viewpoint of an immortal. As Kristin Bauer, I think we can stop this Titanic and turn it around and stop the environmental destruction and minimize the damage of hitting that iceberg but I think Pam is like “Let’s hit it, I’ll be fine and I’m kind of bored.”

Kristin Bauer will be at LUSH in Santa Monica from 1-3pm tomorrow (Saturday 11/7/2009). The first 100 people who RSVP to tailsforwhales@lush.com will receive a free ocean inspired Big Blue Bath Bomb, courtesy of LUSH. Additionally, a bag of Whale Tail chips will be given to all shoppers who submit their photo for the campaign during this time.

Alexander Skarsgard Interview — JustJared.com Exclusive

Alexander Skarsgard joins co-stars Sam Trammell, Michelle Forbes and Rutina Wesley at the premiere of their HBO vampire series True Blood at Max Linder Cinema on Thursday (November 5) in Paris, France.

The 33-year-old actor was just in Sweden to re-shoot scenes for his new movie, Puss. Two weeks ago at an event in New York City, Alexander spoke to JustJared.com exclusively. Check it:

JJ: Tell us about your character in Straw Dogs.

AS:  I play a guy named Charlie who’s a guy from Mississippi who was a big star when he was younger — the quarterback of the football team. He was dating Kate Bosworth’s character, who was the cheerleader — the hottest girl in school — and everything was perfect. He had the best life and people were, like, “You’re going to play in the NFL someday!” And then he got injured and nothing really happened for him.

The movie starts later [in Charlie's life] and he’s in his late twenties — he’s gotten bitter in a way. And [Kate's character] comes back with her new boyfriend (James Marsden), who’s a Hollywood screenwriter. The movie’s about the dynamic between the three of them when they come back, how Charlie reacts to that. He wants her back…

JJ: What was it like working with Kate?

AS:  I love Kate. She’s amazing – she’s going to be amazing in this movie. It’s a really tough part, but she did a great job – she’s a very good friend of mine.

JJ: What was your favorite part about working on the movie?

AS:  Working with those people – Jimmy Marsden, who plays the screenwriter, is a fantastic guy and Rhys Coiro and Drew Powell and Billy Lush, I’d worked with on Generation Kill. They played my buddies. And the entire crew – it was just an amazing experience, and Rod Lurie, the director, is a fantastic director.

JJ: I saw pictures of you and the cast going to a Britney Spears concert!

AS:  Yeah! (laughs)

JJ: Are you a Britney fan?

AS:  No! They gave us tickets and it was a Saturday night. There’s not a whole lot going on in Shreveport (Louisiana). So if something happens, we’re all, like, “Yeah, let’s do it!” We went to a bunch of different concerts and whatever was in town, we went to see, basically.

JJ: Did you get to see Sienna Miller’s After Miss Julie?

AS:  I came in too late! I flew in from L.A. the same day, so I didn’t make it. But I’m from Sweden and it’s written by August Strindberg, who’s an author from Sweden, so I’d love to see it.

JJ: Have you ever seen any musicals or Broadway shows while you’ve been here in NYC?

AS:  I’m actually not a huge musical fan. I prefer plays in general. I’ve seen Hair – I love that ’cause I love the music in that one.

JJ: Would you ever try your hand at Broadway?

AS:  I want to do more plays, definitely. That’s what I did when I was in Sweden – I did a lot of stage work. So I like to go back and forth between movies, television and stage. I think that keeps me motivated as an actor and keeps me on my toes, so I definitely want to do more theater. I did plays like Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? only they were in Swedish ’cause I was in Stockholm.

JJ: When do you return to the set of True Blood?

AS:  I go back to Sweden now to finish this Swedish movie and then in November, I fly back to L.A. and we start preppin’ and then early December, we start True Blood again.

JJ: Do you celebrate Halloween?

AS:  I’ll be in Sweden working on Halloween, so that’s probably good because otherwise, people are going to expect me to dress up as Eric and I’d rather flee the country! (laughs)

JJ: Are you over the vampire craze yet?

AS:  No, I love it. I can’t say that I’m up-to-date on the other shows – I know there are plenty of shows out there, but I’m having a great time on our show and I’m very excited to go back to working with the crew and the cast again. They’re kind of my family now, so I definitely miss them. I’m excited to start again and it’s going to be a fun season.

JJ: Evan Rachel Wood is here [at this event too]. What was it like working with her?

AS:  Evan is amazing. She’s the sweetest girl and a fantastic actress. It’s fun – it’s going to be a great season.

JJ: You work with all great actors!

AS:I know! I’m blessed.

Charlaine Harris tidbits about book 10 and what she really thinks of Eric Northman

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

So, yes I know that we know that Sookie and Eric will have sex in Book 10. But listen here to what Charlaine thinks of other authors in the genre, of Sookie the character and what she thinks of Eric. Also, about Bill surviving the series.

Listen here at at the 26 minute mark http://www.blogtalkradio.com/DrBlogstein/2009/11/04/Charlaine-Harris

Thanks to David B. from the podcast for the info.

~M.

P.S. Sooooooooooooooo, I was just talking to Tamara and I wanted to know what you think about her feelings about Eric Northman. Do you think these comments hint at what may happen with Eric and Sookie? Maybe Eric will mess up so badly that Sookie will not even think of Eric as anything more than a person she has to work with. What do you think?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

(Examiner.com) Now that ‘New Moon’ is right around the corner and ‘Eclipse’ is wrapped ‘Twilight’ fans are beginning to wonder about the fourth installment of the ‘Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn.’

Will there be a ‘Breaking Dawn’ movie? If so, will producers break it up in to more than one film?  As of last week fans weren’t even sure if there would be a ‘Breaking Dawn’ movie.

But Robert Pattinson spilled some details at a ‘New Moon’ press conference yesterday in Beverly Hills.

Pattinson was ask about his filming schedule for the next year and answered by saying he’ll be filming ‘Bel Ami’ where he’ll play a womanizer, along with western ‘Unbound Captives’ and ending with ‘Breaking Dawn.’ Saying; “I think the tentative time for Breaking Dawn is fall of next year,” Pattinson said. He did add that Summit “may well change that.”
