‘True Blood’ busts: Bite?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

This is from EW.com.  Who’s going to get one?

Finally, I can act out my Eric/Sookie scenes with something marginally more than my imagination: True Blood “busts” are in production and should be available over the summer. You can buy Eric, Bill, or Sookie, plus a Merlotte’s sign. The figures cost $69.99 and the sign costs $89.99, which… seems like a lot? Kind of?

If I’m going to pay $70 for a statuette, I want a full-body option so I can dress it in Barbie clothes so I can make Slezak put it in “Doll Bachelor” so it doesn’t disrupt my careful height-order system for desk dolls because I just do, that just makes more sense, jeeze, get off my back already. They’re limited edition and all, though, so there’s that.

Man, I miss True Blood. Would you shell out for this statues, PopWatchers, or are you biding your time in other ways?

Alex is People Magazine’s Sexiest Bad Boy…

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

In the recent Sexiest Man Alive issue of People Magazine, Alex was chosen as their ‘Sexiest Bad Boy’ for the portrayal of Eric Northman on True Blood.  He stated:

“Ever since I was a kid, my mom would scold me for being a bad boy. ‘Don’t fight with the other kids, don’t talk back to your elders, be nice to all the girls.’ So here I am actually getting an award for being a bad boy. Thank you, People magazine. I can’t wait to tell my mom.”

While Eric may be categorized as a ‘bad boy’, Alex himself (and many of the fans) have said that Eric is more misunderstood rather than the villain.  Those who have read Charlaine Harris‘ Southern Vampire Mysteries, which the show is based on, have more of an idea of who Eric really is.

Season 3 of True Blood begins filming in early December where Alex will spend the majority of the first episode practically nude.  Next summer cannot come soon enough!

The vampires of “Twilight” aren’t the only bloodsuckers making the rounds this week. “True Blood” star Stephen Moyer is earning a name for himself on the big screen as well, first with “Priest” — an adaptation of the TokyoPop manga series — and now with a thriller called “The Caller.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Moyer is joining the film alongside Brittany Murphy and Luis Guzman, making for one of the strangest casting round-ups that I can think of in recent memory. “The Caller” is directed by Mathew Parkhill and written by Sergio Casci.

Bloody Disgusting has a rundown on the film’s plot, which focuses on a woman named Mary Kee. She starts receiving mysterious phone calls on her old antique phone from an unknown caller named Rose, and her fears are only heightened when she learns that Rose is reaching out to her from the past. When Mary threatens to end contact with Rose, the mysterious woman threatens to harm Mary in the past, forcing the protagonist to try and put an end to the caller — but how can she kill someone that lives in the past?

While Murphy, Moyer and Guzman have been cast in the film, their respective roles are still unknown. It’s likely that Murphy will play the role of Mary Kee, though she could just as easily portray the creepy Rose. Moyer, meanwhile, is a likely fit for the role of Mary’s ex-husband, who apparently has an important part to play.

As for Guzman? Well, I’m still holding out some hope that he’ll play Rose. Can you imagine his voice assuming the role of a horrifying female caller from the past? That would be some amazing cinema.

“The Caller” begins filming in Puerto Rico this Friday.

What do you make of “The Caller”? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter!

Has Anna said “I do?”

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Rumors started flying around when Anna was spotted in a lovely wedding dress!  Had she already married Stephen in secret?

No, not yet — just a prop for the new film she’s in with Katy Holmes, entitled “The Romantics.”

FYI – the entire True Blood troupe is due back on LA to start filming Season III – can you believe it?  Time flies in the world of vampires and telepathy, doesn’t it?

No word yet on a wedding for Stephen and Anna.  I figured it might happen before Season III started filming – but apparently, there’s no time now that the new season is gearing up. My guess – immediately AFTER Season III. Anyone willing to bet on this?

Timeout interviews Peter Facinelli

Sunday, November 8th, 2009
That's Dr. Carlisle Cullen to you...

That's Dr. Carlisle Cullen to you...

As you may or may not know…. I’m one of the few people who went to see Twilight and came out of it not going ga-ga over Taylor or Robert, but liking Carlisle Cullen (Peter Facinelli) and Charlie Swan (Billy Burke). So, whenever I see them on TV or in print… I’m happy. Let me digress, Timeout Magazine  recently interviewed Peter Facinelli and I thought the following bits were interesting…

Will Twilight fans be surprised by New Moon?
I don’t know if they’ll be surprised; I’m hoping they’ll walk out of the theater happy. I was a fan of the book and am very pleased with how the movie came out. The Cullen family isn’t featured as prominently [as in the first film]. New Moon is focused more on the werewolf side of this small town. Also, Chris Weitz directed New Moon and his vision is different from [Twilight director] Catherine Hardwicke’s. It’s not the same as Twilight, but it still has its edge.

How has Twilight changed you?
I’ve definitely got more people asking me to have a picture taken with them. The fan base is fantastic. They are very loyal and giving. Some people will fly in from other states just to come meet me.

What’s up next for you, aside from the Twilight series?
I’m filming Nurse Jackie through December. There’s the possibility of a fourth Twilight [film]. I’ve written three scripts and hopefully they’ll eventually get set up.

Of all the characters you’ve played, do you have a favorite?
That’s like asking me to pick a favorite kid! Every one of my characters is my creation. I’ve liked them all. Dr. Cullen is a great character, but so is Dr. Cooper [from Nurse Jackie]. I love playing them both.
