William Sanderson a.k.a. Bud Dearborn talks about True Blood

Monday, March 30th, 2009
(Market Watch, Mar 30, 2009) — Hollywood actor William Sanderson has specialized in off-center characters so his role as a sheriff in HBO’s vampire series, “True Blood,” is a change of pace. And, to hear him tell it, it’s “kind of scary.” Sanderson — who played Larry, the slightly goofy handyman on “Newhart” — also played the scuzzy E.B. Farnum on HBO’s “Deadwood” a few seasons back, and appeared in the sci-fi classic “Blade Runner” as an introspective, brilliant toymaker. He was also part of the ensemble for the Emmy-winning miniseries “Lonesome Dove” and he describes many of his early roles as “prairie scum.” So it’s a little unusual for him to be playing Sheriff Bud Dearborne, a non-vampire, in “True Blood,” created by Alan Ball — who also created “Six Feet Under” and won a screenwriting Oscar for best picture winner “American Beauty.” “True Blood,” scheduled to begin its second season in June, stars Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer in a contemporary tale about vampires who have gone public in the U.S. South. Sanderson — who was featured in a recent episode of ABC’s “Lost” as, apparently, a torturer — told UPI in a telephone interview it’s a challenge playing the “regular guy” sheriff of “True Blood.” “For me to play a normal person,” he said, “it’s kind of scary.”

For the Bill lovers out there… Vote for Your Man! ;-D

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Image: Stephen Moyer
Ladies Love Cool Bill, especially our Pamela.

Vote for your favorite new TV character:

Why you should vote for Bill Compton

He’ll just as soon suck your hemoglobin for a midnight snack, but unlike many other of his vampire brethren, Bill (Steven Moyer) can be a good friend too. He’s certainly spry for someone 173 years old — not a wrinkle on him — and his affection for Sookie (Anna Paquin) was something he never expected. Still trying to figure how he can satisfy both his vampire needs without being repelling to humans, Bill is an all right guy. Just be sure not to expose your neck toward him with a “Come get a taste of me” tease.

____________________________________________________

Bill is up against some heavy hitters (Gemma Morrow of Sons of Anarcy, Walter Bishop of Fringe, Dr. Hood from the Eleventh Hour) so I expect you True Blood fans to bat for Bill. We did it for Eric, so we have to do the same for Bill.

For you who love Sookie Stackhouse as much as the Ericites and the Billites (LOL!!!!! I could not help myself.)  You can vote for her too. So go vote!

Ryan Kwanten in TV Guide

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

ryan-kwanten-in-tv-guide1

(TV Guide – March 20- April 12, TV’s 35 Sexiest Stars) – Of life’s many guilty pleasures, lusting after True Blood’s Jason Stackhouse is pretty darn close to the top of the list. Sure, the HBO vampire drama’s so-called “redneck Casanova” isn’t exactly gonna set the world on fire with his theories on quantum mechanics. But who cares, when he looks like that and talks like that and makes us feel like that. Which is why we’re almost reluctant to inform you that Ryan Kwanten, the Aussie actor who portrays Bon Temps’ dim, frisky man-child, isn’t very much like Jason at all. Like, the guy quotes obscure 18th-century poetry about the elusiveness and universality of beauty. “I’ve always liked that, because you never know what beauty or sexiness really is,” says Kwanten, 32. Whereas his brazenly confident alter ego has, as Kwanten says, “a total lack of inhibition,” the real guy couldn’t brag his way out of a paper bag. (He considers the high arch of his feet to be his best attribute.) While he will cop to a couple of turn-ons, they don’t include anything quite so deliciously dangerous as fang marks: “I love a good, genuine smile and a good laugh,” he says. “If a woman knows who she is, that inner beauty is connected to an outer radiance.” His trick to getting through all those steamy love scenes? “Trying to tunnel into what the girl is thinking and make her comfortable,” he says. Well put. But then again, we’re not here to listen to you talk.
