And that, my friends, is how you end a season – True Blood Season Finale Recap

Sunday, August 26th, 2012

What a season! Kudos to the True Blood crew for giving us the best season we’ve ever had and we cannot wait to see the 6th season. We were not totally surprised by those that passed away, but we will most definitely miss Russell Edington. His crazy made us go crazy. With that stated, here is the complete list of characters that passed away during the season finale.

R.I.P.

Russell Edgington

J.D.

Chelsea the Receptionist

Salome

Rosalyn

Now, let’s get on with the recap!

Besides all the death and mayhem, I just want to first jump for utter joy because Eric was awesome tonight!

Between offing Russell:

Bickering with Jason:

Annoying Jason:

Protecting his progeny:

Sharing a moment with Pam:

Protecting Sookie:

Bothering his sister:

And attempting to save Bill from himself:

Eric had a banner night!

Other highlights of note:

Well, Maurella finally popped after ingesting a container of table salt and Andy did not only become a daddy to one bouncing baby girl, but 4:

Unfortunately for Andy and the somewhat understanding Holly, Maurella up and left and left the rearing of the babies to Andy as part of their pact. Nice parenting Maurella. God help you Andy. Btw, I wish child birth was that enjoyable, I would have had 50 kids if it was that orgasmic?

Sam and Luna continued to try to save Emma and they came up with the brilliant plan that consisted of Luna shifting  into Steve so she could smuggle Emma out of the Authority compound. It was going to work, but then Roslyn showed up and dragged whom she believed was Steve to do an interview for damage control. As expected, Luna turned back to her normal self and before Roslyn could get her mitts on her… Sam buzzed his fly self into Rosalyn’s mouth… if that’s not love than I don’t know what is.

The question for season 6 is… will Luna survive? Remember, every time a Shifter changes into a  another human the weaker they become mentally and physically.

The pack storyline was not my favorite, but it was completed (or so we think). So, we saw Alcide, his Dad and Emma’s grandmother go into the pack to get it back and set it on the straight and narrow. We watched Alcide pummel J.D. to death. Unfortunately, he had to ingest vampire blood to do so. The question is, is this the end of Alcide’s troubles or will we see him suffer the repercussions for what he did tonight in Season 6?

So the mystery of Warlo continues:

Big question for Season 6 is how does Nora know Warlo?

So, let’s go into the storyline that we saw coming and damn it… they are the best True Blood couple, hands down!

Jessica: Sookie could you get these doors?

Sookie: Oh right cuz ya’ll are vampires and these are silver doors duh

Sookie: *opens Jess’s door*

Sookie: *goes to open Pam’s door*

Tara: *fucking opens it anway*

Sookie:….Oh okay

Jessica:knew it

Where the official shipping of Para or Tam (Pam+Tara) was born tonight, Jessica totally lost Jason. Jason is in full on delusional mode. He is now being haunted by the hallucinations of his parents  and they are feeding him this ire that is coming from that deep seeded issue he has had with vampires since he found out that his parents were killed by Warlo. This has resulted in Jason hating all of vampdom and that includes Jessica.

Will Jessica reach the old Jason is Season 6 and save him from all this crazy-talk or will we see Jason end up killing Jessica? The torture…

Towards the end of the episode the group split, Eric and Sookie stayed behind to save Bill and the rest were escaping which is when we got a bonus scene (from HBO) and that was what was going on in the lift:

While everyone else is taking down the compound, Eric and Sookie go looking for Bill. They tried to make Bill understand that he was under the influence, but he was not going to give in and for a brief moment we thought we lost one of the key players in the True Blood universe.

We should know better now, because Alan Ball and the writers of HBO would not let that happen and we were given the biggest shock of the tv year!

All praise Billith…

The shit is on…

Season 6 is going to be amazing!

With that said…

and waiting sucks!

XOXO,

~M.

Highlights and Lowlight of True Blood’s Gone, Gone, Gone

Sunday, August 12th, 2012

Unlike the first few seasons of True Blood, the writers have figured out how to make the show progressively better and better as the season barrels its way towards the season finale. During tonight’s episode, it took all of my strength to keep my mouth off of the floor and I chalk it up to the writers.

So, let’s get on with our recap and I have to admit that I loved this episode, but it was so painful at times… why? Well, let’s start with the most obvious:

As I stated earlier, Hoyt has been suffering big time and he knew that the only way to put his life back on track was to make drastic changes and that was to 1. Move far, far away and that is apparently Alaska, 2. Have Jessica remove herself from his memory and 3. Have Jessica remove Jason from his memory.

When he opened his eyes it was like seeing the Hoyt we first met in Season 1 and we had to applaud him for getting the hell out of dodge in one piece. Of course this has left Jessica and Jason devastated, but they have other issues to worry about.

Jessica has been summoned by her maker, Bill, and as expected she is worried about what Bill has become and that is a bible-thumping cult member and what that cult wants to do.

Jason on the other hand is helping his sister figure out what is going on and that involves a fae contract between a Stackhouse and a Fae that was under the floorboards of Sookie’s bed. We see that Sookie is the property of the Vampire that killed her parents…

This is also the scene where we find out that Andy is going to be a Dad…

I cannot wait to see Andy’s and Holly’s reaction to the big news

Now, it wasn’t only Hoyt who took matters into his own hands. Tara was not going to take this whole Authority mess lying down:

That’s right, Tara and Ginger plotted together to off the new, well now deceased, sheriff of Area 5. To tell you the truth, I started to like the new Sheriff.

Is this a sign of things to come, maybe and maybe not. Godric made an appearance to his progeny after they ingested some of the supposed blood of Lilith.

Has the doubt been set in these two, well I think so. Especially after Russell went all cuckoo and stated that this religion of theirs is what is keeping them from evolving. Not even Salome can stop him, so all hell will break loose most definitely.

Yet, Russell had a cool moment, kind of, before he went ape shit…

After the adorably gory moment, Steve went off to pull some positive PR for the AVL. When he returns to the headquarters of the Authority he sees that Emma has changed back to her human form and he chastises her which causes the little girl to ask for Luna:

Nice Pet Parenting Skills Steve… tsk. ;-D

Now, onto the low light of the episode. There were two deaths in the episode, the first one was that of the the coroner of Bon Temps. No love lost there. The second one was of Molly, the tech-savvy vampire that attempted to help Eric escape.

We barely knew you Molly, but your parting words will stand the test of time:

Molly: In that case allow me to say, Fuck all of you. You are destroying the world based on a book that is thousands of years old. You call that evolved? That’s the opposite of evolved.

By the way, do you know who flipped the kill switch? Bill…

Awesome episode and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next episode which is titled Sunset.

Synopsis: To help Sookie look into an ancient family secret, Maurella and Claude take her to meet the faerie elder. Jessica becomes an unwilling participant in Bill’s ongoing religious conversion. The military uses a damning video of Russell and Steve Newlin as ammunition to deliver an ultimatum to the Authority. Alcide reconnects with his father. Sam and Luna hitch a ride into the Authority.

Highlights and low-lights of True Blood’s Somebody that I used to know…

Sunday, July 29th, 2012

We interrupt the Men’s Swimming Olympic coverage with a little visual recap of True Blood’s Somebody I Used to Know.

The best storyline of the episode had to be that of Sam and Luna. As Sam went off on his quest to ride Bon Temps of it’s Supes Serial Killers, Luna started to lose it and eventually lost herself externally… that is.

Watching Luna as Sam walk around with his/her butt out and then Sam/Luna and Sam almost kiss had us in stitches and falling even more for this coupling.

Now, since kids go to this site, I will only have a still image of the scene that had many a women repeat over and over again:

Next up, Pam and Tara’ relationship keeps moving forward and for the better:

There was a bitter-sweet moment and that revolved around Lafayette:

These two had the best relationship and unfortunately these moments between Lafayette and the spirit that is Jesus are not enough for the fans.

Awwwww…

The funniest moment revolved around the vampire that we all love to hate and the former preacher that had the hots for Jason:

There two will be fuckbuddies in no time…

Craziest moment is that of the mysterious vampire that killed Sookie’s parents and is now after Sookie:

Most unfortunate moment revolved around Bill. Bill, when did you become so easily swayed by which way the wind blows????

What was your highlight and your low-light moment in tonight’s episode of True Blood?

P.S.

True Blood Fun Fact #69 – Albert Einstein was a Hafling (Half Fae/Half Human).

Kevin Alejandro Talks of the dramatic exit of True Blood’s Jesus

Monday, September 12th, 2011

AH – Kevin Alejandro said goodbye to his life as Bon Temps’ resident nurse, brujo and the love of Nelsan Ellis’ Lafayette Reynolds on the season finale of “True Blood,” and his exit produced an outpouring of emotions from the actor’s friends and colleagues.

“My phone’s been blowing up. The ones that I’ve worked with have been like, ‘Great job!’ and the ones that didn’t know [the twist] – it was another sort of ‘Southland’ effect,” Kevin told Access Hollywood on Monday, referencing the shocking death of his TNT character, Detective Nate Moretta, on the cop show. “A lot of people were actually kind of touched by it and surprised and shocked.”

It was around the time they began work on Episode 2 that Kevin heard from “True Blood” writer Alexander Woo and creator Alan Ball, that his character, Jesus, would be meeting his end in Season 4.

The actor, who joined the HBO drama just last season, after leaving “Southland,” confirmed what Nelsan recently told Access — it was Kevin’s idea to have Jesus die at the hands of his boyfriend, Lafayette.

“It was, actually. I thought it would be interesting. The direction that they put the characters in [was] so ‘in love,’ where we balance each other out,” Kevin explained of his idea. “What an incredible statement to go into the show, creating such love and having the one person that you love the most have to take your life.”

Filming the moment – with just the two men on screen – was emotional, not just because the characters were in love, but because the two actors have become very good friends in real life.

“It was really sad for me, ‘cause it’s the inevitable end. I know what’s coming, we all know what’s coming,” Kevin told Access. “Nelsan wasn’t exaggerating when he said that we’ve become extremely close. My family loves him. When we found out that I was gonna die, he was the first person out at my [home]. We were talking about it and trying to figure out if it was something that we did, just trying to figure out why exactly they were going in this direction with the character.

The decision actually had to do with creator Alan’s much-talked about idea that happy couples don’t make good TV, the same notion that led to Bill Compton and Sookie Stackhouse splitting up in Season 3.

“I think in a strange sense, I think it made Nelsan and I closer as friends, because we knew that our time as buddies on the show together was coming to an end,” Kevin said. “It sort of put our friendship into fast forward, in a sense, and became super set.”

While Jesus is no longer in the land of the living, Kevin is ready to come back when the Bon Temps powers that be come calling.

“I’ve talked to a couple of people who make those decisions and yeah, I think I will be back in some aspect of helping [Lafayette] try and figure out how to use his magic, or if he gets in trouble, I think there might be an easy way to see Jesus come back,” Kevin said.

On December 6 at 9 PM, fans looking for a Kevin fix can head over to his old “Southland” home on TNT, and catch him in the television movie, “Hide.”

“It’s a detective story. I get to play a detective again, working with the amazing Carla Gugino,” he said. “It’s just the two of us going on this journey together, trying to find this serial killer who kidnapped young women.”

Scene Stealer: True Blood’s Nelsan Ellis

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

TVG – He plays Lafayette Reynolds, the short order cook serving up sizzling one-liners on the HBO hit True Blood.  Lafayette’s left his prostitute/drug dealer days behind partly thanks to boyfriend Jesus, a witch who’s initiating him into the world of magic.

Spoiler:

Look for Lafayette and Jesus to grow closer when the unruly spirit of Mavis (Nondumiso Tembe), a creole woman from the late 1930′s won’t leave without a fight.

Lafayette and Jesus will get themselves in some pretty sticky situations” Ellis teases. “But Jesus arises as Lafayette’s hero and vice versa. It deepens the relationship.”

“we’re building something nice with Jesus and Lafayette that’s rare on TV,” says Ellis of his on-screen relationship. “There’s no hot, steamy sex scenes – just a deep connection with two people falling in love.”

Lafayette will be turning into “SOMETHING”

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Nelsan Ellis was spotted leaving the BAFTA Los Angeles Awards Season Tea in Association with The Four Seasons and Bombay Sapphire at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, California and here’s what he had to say …

So …

I guess the question is what will Lafayette be turning into …

If you’d've asked me during the second season I’d have said a vampire — without a doubt.

But …

Flash forward to season 3 and my guess becomes a powerful witch or shaman.

What do y’all think Lafayette will become?

Is there more to Lafayette’s love than meets the eye?

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

EW: Ausiello

Question: This is my first time asking a question. I feel a little giddy! Do you have any more scoop on the upcoming season of True Blood? June 13 still seems so far away! —Carrie
Ausiello: The Bon Temps rumor mill is rife with speculation that Lafayette’s love story will have a supernatural tinge to it. Translation: Boyfriend’s not just a nurse.
