TV Time: Recap of Lost Girl’s Season Finale – Flesh and Bone

Recap of last night’s season finale of Lost Girl – Flesh and Blood

Synopsis: Concerned that Bo’s plan is too risky, Trick offers Bo one more weapon for her own, and everyone else’s, safety. Bo must lead her friends into battle ahead of schedule when her hand is forced by their enemy. A revelation from Dyson provides Bo with ammunition, but another’s deceit threatens the mission. Prophecies come true… but at what cost?

So, I am kind of ambivalent about last night’s episode. Yes, the storyline revolving around the Garuda was wrapped up with a tiny, shiny red Bo-w.

Let’s go over what I liked:

The relationship, friendship or whatever it is between Kenzi and Hale was thrust to the forefront as Kenzi’s life was at stake. There is a genuine bond, if it is just sidekicks uniting under the duress of potential catastrophic quests or just two individuals slowly becoming more than just friends… it is truly a joy to watch these two be there for one another.

When Kenzi was sliced, the pain and worry in Hale’s face said it all.

Vex is the foil to everything that the Good guys attempt to do. Yet, he does it in such a way that you end up liking him. Yes, he can be annoying, but that is part of his charm. He gives scenes a comedic twist when it needs it the most, just as Kenzi does day in, day out.

The little double-entendres exchanged between Vex and everyone had me laughing, but it was that moment when he realized that he indeed had to join in the fray to assist in the slaying of the Garuda that had me cheering him on.

By the way, Bo had ample chances to inject the Garuda (especially when Dyson had him by the throat).  Why wait it out? This leads me to what I did not like…

The Garuda storyline left me wanting a bigger, splashier finale.

What we got, was the backstory of when everything first went to pot. That moment when Trick’s right hand man signed the death warrant of Trick’s wife and thus propelling the fae world into such a bad luck streak that it is still has not recovered.

The backstory of Trick was interesting, but it could have been conveyed in a different medium or just by these two men talking and forcing Trick to realize that everything has been somewhat his fault. It felt drawn out and the re-enactment was a bit too much.

Then there is the “Who will Bo choose?” scenario. She made her choice, Lauren, but Dyson is not giving up without a fight. This is what the fans love, but in hindsight… the most fun we had over the past season was when she was with Ryan. That is what I want to see, Bo having fun, even if it leads to insane moments. There is some joy in watching her contend with someone that matches her in almost every way. Both Lauren and Dyson are a bit too emotionally heavy, even though I will love seeing these two try to outmatch one another as they vie for Bo’s attention.

One of the major highlights from last night was that we will indeed have a third season and it will be coming to us in January.

That makes us wonder about what will come in the third season, well there are five obvious story arcs:

  1. 1. Bo is still housing a little bit of the corrupt essence within her. How that affects her day-to-day job as a private investigator, protector of the fae world and her relationships is yet to be scene, but I’m sure it will be interesting.
  2. 2. Kenzi and the nasty mosquito bite that she picked up at the Norn. Is it evil? Will it too corrupt Kenzi?
  3. 3. Trick’s quest to make amends for what had happened to his beloved Isabeau.
  4. 4. Lauren vs. Bo, it’s on.
  5. 5. The new Ash.

It should be a fun season.

Lost Girl: Recap of Lachlan’s Gambit

Sunday, September 2nd, 2012

We gave an overview of the season on the latest Last Bite podcast, so we are going to proceed with recaps on this site for the remainder of the season.

As you are well aware of, we are heading to the end of this season and it seems like all bets are off as Bo comes to the realization that she indeed is the only one that can combat the Garuda.

But, I am skipping ahead of myself.

The Garuda is not holding back anymore and he sent in his berserkers to get his hands on the “Blood King” a.k.a. Trick. But with Bo, Hale, Kenzi and of all people… Ciara to head them off, there really was no need to to worry.

Then Lachlan sends in his men to get Trick and during Trick and Lachlan’s discussion, we come to learn that the key to combat the Garuda is Trick’s blood, but if they use it… they would have to contend with a more wicked creature. Apparently, in this universe, there is always a repercussion for every action and it never is never a happy one.

While this is happening, Dyson showsup and he now believes that he is destined to take down the Garuda. Bo, is all wiling to let everyone deal with the Garuda because in reality she is not ready to confront the Garuda, no less take him down.By this time, they’ve become worried that Trick has not returned, so they get him back from Lachlan.

There are moments of tenderness between Ciara and Dyson and Lauren and Bo and it is because they know they may not make it through the battle with the Garuda. Eventually, the battle takes place and we lose Ciara (who sacrificed her life to save Bo from the blade of the Garuda)

and Lachlan (or so we think). I have to admit that Ciara’s death was unfortunate, but necessary because it showed us that Dyson does indeed have the capacity to love. After her passing, Dyson stays behind to take down the berserkers as Hale takes Bo to safety. If you are wondering about Kenzi, she initially followed Hale and Bo, but she double-backed to help Dyson. But, all she did was drag his battered and beaten body to safety. When Bo sees Kenzi pushing  Dyson’s body that is the moment that she realizes that she is alone in this battle.

In the next episode: Into the Dark

In the wake of emotional losses, Trick reveals his deepest secret to Bo. Bo realizes there is no turning back and she must go to any extreme, which includes aligning herself with a sworn enemy, to take on a battle that could decide the fate of the Fae.

Let me tell you that there is a big reveal in the 1st 5 minutes of the next episode and it changes everything, but it starts clicking everything into place. So, you better watch it. Oh! And Vex will be in the episode.
