Deservedly, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 shatters weekend box office records
Sunday, July 17th, 2011NYDN – Harry Potter’s spellbinding final movie shattered box office records yesterday.
The boy wizard’s magic touch remains as powerful as ever after “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ brought in a transfixing $168.6 million across the U.S. and Canada from Friday to yesterday.
The film smashed by more than $10 million the previous record for three-day box office sales, held by the 2008 Batman movie “The Dark Knight.”
The Warner Bros. movie also brought in $307 million in 59 countries, bringing the total global sales to nearly $476 million.
The eighth film in the magical saga had audiences across the world mesmerized, with many choosing to watch its hotly anticipated release in 3D.
The movies are based on British author J.K. Rowling’s hugely successful novels about a young wizard and his friends who battle against evil.
“This will be the biggest ‘Harry Potter’ by far,” said Warner Bros.’ head of domestic distribution, Dan Fellman. “It’s just a great way to exit, with the class and style that J.K. Rowling wrote into these stories.”

MTV Movie Awards Recap: Twilight Triumphs, Winners, a Kiss and a Couple of Sneak Peeks
Monday, June 6th, 2011
By: Maria G.
The MTV Movie Awards has officially become the Twilight Movie Awards, which was evident in tonight’s awards ceremony. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse took home five awards, including the fan favorite Best Kiss award.
But before we go in to full-metal recap mode, let’s go over the much anticipated trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
and for you Twihards out there, here is the invitation:

The other trailer that had everyone abuzz was the
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II
These trailers were the highlight of the show for me.
Now, we can go into recap mode. As you know, I was watching Game of Thrones on HBO when the awards started and I basically followed the escapades of the night via Twitter and I have to say the tweets were quite informative. Everyone was agog over the beauty of many young actresses like Kristen Stewart, Emma Watson and the like. Many critics were surprised that Inception, the Social Network and Black Swan had not won more awards. I have to agree with that sentiment. Especially when it came to the Best Kiss category, which of course Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson won. I was so surprised that Black Swan did not win. Do boys even bother to watch MTV? Or did the Twihards spend all their free time voting?
Regarding Best Kiss, in years past, we’ve had to endure the awkward attempts of Stewart and Pattinson attempting to satiate the fan’s want of a kiss. Wel,l we got a kiss… but, it was from Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Mind you, I have to say that they looked more natural at it then Stewart and Pattinson.

All together, the cast had made it to the stage 6 times and that includes Rob Pattinson standing on stage when Reese Witherspoon was awarded the Generation Award. I have to admit that when the British actor managed to slip an F-bomb past censors, I laughed.
My second highlight of the night was when Tom Felton won his award for Best Villain for his portrayal of Draco Malfoy in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,” and stated that he had big plans for his popcorn-shaped trophy.
“This will look very nice in my downstairs toilet,” he said.

So, what was your favorite moment of the night? Were you happy with the winners?
